Meet Janeen - The SouthOC Mom behind Baby Bee Yoga - South OC Moms

Meet A Mom FeatureJaneen

Let’s start with where are you originally from and how long have you lived in South OC?
I’m originally from a small town east of San Francisco – Tracy! I moved down to Orange County to attend college and never left! So I’ve been a Southern Californian for close to 15 years.

What made you decide to raise your family in South OC?
My husband and I moved to South OC a few years ago and we instantly felt a sense of community that we lacked in previous cities. We began exploring our neighborhood, and neighborhoods nearby and knew we picked the right place for our family. There are so many wonderful places to explore, amazing food, great local shops to support, and you can’t beat the weather! And – everywhere is dog friendly!

Children and Ages?                                                                                                                                                        We have a one-year old daughter – Brooklynn – who inspired me to create Baby Bee Yoga!

What made you want to start BabyBeeYoga?
I’ve been a lover of yoga for many years and received my RYT-200HR certification back in 2015. Luckily I was able to continue my yoga practice during my pregnancy to help me combat symptoms of pregnancy as well as prepare me for labor! It wasn’t until after I had my daughter that I was having a hard time finding Mama & Baby Yoga classes that worked with our schedule! I was surprised at the limited availability of Prenatal and Mama & Baby Yoga classes in our South OC area! And Baby Bee Yoga was born!

Starting a new business takes a ton of work, what does a typical weekday look like for you?
When I’m not being a mom, or planning upcoming classes and events for Baby Bee Yoga, I’m also a College Professor at CSU, Long Beach! So life can be hectic! My typical work day begins with a large cup of coffee and some snuggle time with my daughter. I take a few minutes to meditate and start my day off right, then I catch up on emails and create a to-do list of important tasks for the day. Then it’s off to Long Beach to conduct Fashion Merchandising classes most afternoons. I return home for some quality, family time with my daughter and husband. I wrap my day up with a glass of wine and some snuggle time with my daughter!

How do you balance BabyBeeYoga and being an amazing mom?

I try my best to balance work and mom-life but it is always a challenge! I try and focus specific parts of my day to work, and specific parts of my day to my daughter. And of course – I work when she’s sleeping! Focusing specific time for her gives us lots of time together but it’s always a work in progress to get the balance just right!

What advice do you have for new moms that you wish someone had told you?

This too shall pass. Each stage has it’s challenges that will come and go, so be patient. And enjoy every, single moment. Even the tough stages have their rewards.

What is your favorite Date Night spot in South OC?

San Clemente is our favorite place to get away for a date night! We love the local restaurants such as HH Cotton, Brussels Bistro, and Café Mimosa!

What are some of your favorite local things to do with your daughter?

My daughter loves to be outside! We love to visit local parks, outdoor shopping malls, and local farmers markets! With this amazing weather we’re able to be outside all the time!

Where can other South OC Moms find your amazing yoga classes?

Currently we offer our Prenatal classes in San Clemente at Collective Energy Yoga on Friday and Sunday mornings, and our Baby Bee & Me classes in Laguna Niguel at the Laguna Niguel Regional Park on Tuesday mornings! We’re looking forward to adding more parks and locations soon.

What do you hope other Moms will get out of your yoga classes?

At BABY BEE YOGA we hope to give moms a supporting, comforting, and empowering class that ultimately gives them space to focus on themselves. These classes offer a judgement-free environment where she can surrender to the needs of her and her baby, clear her mind, and bond with her baby.
