Kumon all started as merely a bridge to keep my kids academically engaged over the summer. When September rolled around, I began to see great strides in both reading and math for my children. I thought to myself, would I ever give up on any sort of academic advantage for my child. The answer to that question was, of course I wouldn’t. So we forged on and Kumon became a regular daily activity in my children’s schedule.
Fast forward four years and now all three of my children are doing Kumon on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t always doing their Kumon packets with a smile on their face. Especially when they have just moved onto a new concept, they most certainly experience academic growing pains. But their grades and test scores have proven to me that Kumon, in addition to their school work have helped them excel far beyond their grade level. Kumon’s structured program has made it easier for my children to complete their school homework with ease and given them a passion for reading. Their report cards reflect their hard work both inside and outside of classroom.
Studies show that kids on average lose 2.3 months of academic knowledge over the summer, which equates to 18 months by the time they enter the 6th grade. I don’t know about you, but we don’t work hard during the school year, to let knowledge slip away during the summer. I can’t recommend the Kumon program enough to other families. I only hope that you too will give your kids the opportunity to try the Kumon program and witness the academic growth that I have in my own children.
