Our go-to book expert Rosemary D’Urso, known as the Library Mom, rounded up the most darling new books that your kids will absolutely love!

“These recently published gems capture the magic of Christmas and Hanukkah with heartwarming stories of family mixed with humorous tales that will have both children and adults giggling,” Rosemary promises. And, of course, books are the perfect gift that keeps giving, so check out these new titles and enjoy them this season and beyond.

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Sleigh by Mo Willems
(Ages 3 and up)
Everyone’s favorite Pigeon is back in his very own holiday tale! Per the request of Santa, children are encouraged to prohibit the eager Pigeon from driving Santa’s beloved sleigh. It is almost impossible not to chuckle at Pigeon’s expressive responses and the surprise ending. This one is sure to be a hit!

How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney? by Mac Barnett, illustrated by Jon Klassen
(Ages 4 and up)
Once again, the dynamic duo of Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen have united for another perfectly executed story that is full of humor. While we may not be entirely sure how Santa enters various houses, this story has some ideas that will have readers absolutely cracking up!

Carla and the Christmas Cornbread by Carla Hall; illustrated by Cherise Harris

From delicious smells to scrumptious tastes, so often favorite childhood memories are centered around food. This sentiment is perfectly captured in the endearing story by chef and television star Carla Hall. She even includes a recipe for cornbread and cinnamon butter!

Hanukkah The Festival of Lights by Bonnie Bader; illustrated by Joanie Stone
(Ages 3 and up)
This Little Golden Book introduces several traditions of Hanukkah and the history of why it is celebrated. Using colorful illustrations and child-friendly text, the book describes how the Maccabees fought against a giant army for their right to worship in their temple and how they found a small jar of oil that miraculously lasted eight days.

Latkes and Applesauce: Hanukkah Story by Fran Manushkin; illustrated by Kris Easler
(Ages 4 and up)
When a blizzard prevents a family from picking potatoes and apples, they have to settle for soup for their Hanukkah celebration. Though there is little food, the family takes in a stray cat and dog who miraculously find potatoes and apples for the family. This sweet story also includes additional details about the holiday, why latkes and applesauce are traditionally eaten, and about the game of dreidel.

Hanukkah in Little Havana by Julie Anna Blank; illustrated by Carlos Vélez Aguilera
This joyful celebration of family follows two sisters who travel to Florida to visit their grandparents for Hanukkah. I just adore the love captured in these pages as the family rejoices in togetherness, enjoying good food, and celebrating their faith.
