2020 has certainly brought some unexpected surprises, but it has also brought all sorts of creativity. The Elf on The Shelf Magical Journey experience is certainly one of those creative surprises. This was the first drive through experience for us and I really enjoyed the beauty from afar. I can’t wait to share with you our experience, some tips, and link to purchase tickets so you can experience your own Magical Holiday Journey.
This year, Christmas Spirit is running low and the Elves took over the Pomona Fairplex to bring Christmas spirit up and repair Santa’s sleigh with your help. This is the theme of this fun Drive-thru experience that is running now through January 3rd. Before you visit I highly recommended that you download their custom-made app in order to enjoy the multi-sensory journey! You will be lead through the experience via an elf audio narration. The app comes in English and Spanish and can be downloaded from your app store.
Once you arrive and they scan your tickets you will be presented with a goodie bag. Inside the bag you will find a pen, a letter for Santa to complete and some sweet treats. You will have 10 minutes for your children to complete the note to Santa. Make sure they take their time and write something good, because this will be turned into an amazing keepsake before the end of your journey. At the check in you will also be provided the opportunity to purchase some snacks or some Elf on The Shelf gear. We opted to bring our own snacks and enjoy them throughout the experience. Also, don’t forget to have everyone use the restroom before you embark on your journey. It would be close to impossible to use the porta-potty provided restrooms once you have begun your experience.
Not wanting to give too much away and ruin the experience for you all, I will do my best to stick to generalities. But if you don’t want to know anything else about the actual experience, I suggest skipping to the end of this blog post for ticket links and directions. Before entering Elf World you will have to make a stop where the elves will measure how much Christmas Spirit your car has. Hint, I think it will be pretty low in the beginning and get much bigger as you proceed through the experience. Then they will shrink you down to Elf size so that you too can experience the world of Elf on The Shelf. Once inside this magical land you will see Elves dancing, fishing, doing tricks, juggling, ice skating and even walking on a tight rope. Towards the end you will even get to see Santa Claus himself. The entire experience is lit up in lights and colors that are extremely pleasing to all the senses.
Once you complete the journey they will unfortunately bring you back to human size and present you with an adorable keepsake. They turn your child’s letter to Santa into a Christmas tree ornament. It really is such a special way to remember the experience and take the magic home with you. If only I could figure out how they turned a giant piece of paper into a tiny little ornament. Christmas miracle I guess.
