Elizabeth Banks is an accomplished actress (30 Rock, Pitch Perfect, Hunger Games), director (Charlie’s Angels) and producer. She’s also a mom of two, and now an entrepreneur, as co-owner and Chief Creative Officer of Archer Roose Wines.
Founded by another mom, Marian Leitner-Waldman, Archer Roose is one of our favorite new discoveries, a luxury canned wine that’s free of added sugar and gluten—and not to mention, beautifully packaged.
We spoke to Elizabeth about her partnership with Archer Roose Wines, her working mom life, and more.
Why did you decide to partner with Archer Roose Wines?
I love wine, but the wine industry is very old school. Archer Roose is making quality wine fun and accessible to people who don’t want a snooty or intimidating experience! And of course, I love that it is a female-founded company.
How have you incorporated Archer Roose into your mom life?
The great thing about Archer Roose Wines is that it can go anywhere because it’s conveniently packaged in a can. Whether floating down a river (which is where I first tried Archer Roose), at a picnic, or on my sofa at home, I love that I can enjoy great wine wherever, whenever. And it’s the perfect portion size—I no longer throw out a half-finished bottle of wine!
What’s different about Archer Roose than other wines in a can or box?
One of the most interesting facts about Archer Roose is that its wine is sourced globally. The team searches for the best winemakers in the best winemaking regions, like our Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina; Bubbly and Bubbly Rose from Veneto Italy; Sauvignon Blanc from the Casablanca Valley in Chili; Pinot Grigio from Friuli, Italy; and Rose from Pays d’Oc, France. And we put the information about the people, places and practices for each varietal directly on the can, along with the ingredients, because we’ve got nothing to hide! Archer Roose Wines have no additives or added sugar, are vegan-friendly and gluten free, and are responsibly produced from sustainably grown grapes, so you can feel good about enjoying the occasional glass of wine!
What have you loved about launching this brand with another woman—we read that Marian was pregnant during the fundraising rounds, which of course we love!
I love to see women in leadership roles, particularly in industries like the wine industry that are historically male dominated, so of course I am thrilled to be in great company with Archer Roose’s founder, Marian. I was so impressed with her vision to evolve the wine category to be more modern and accessible for all. She’s brilliant, but she’s also a lot of fun. What do you do to relax; what does self-care look like for you?
Like most moms, I always prioritize my family, but I do also have the demands of my career outside the house as well, and so life can get pretty busy. I try to always get a good night’s sleep, get outside and exercise every day, and then when I can I get together with friends and family and enjoy great food, and wine, of course.
What other occasions that Archer Roose best fits into?
The beauty of Archer Roose is that it can go anywhere with you. You can take Archer Roose to the beach, on the boat (if you’re fancy like that), on a hike (you deserve a reward for scaling a mountain), you get it. You can also find Archer Roose wines in lots of places that you couldn’t previously find an amazing glass of wine, like Dave & Busters, Regal Cinemas, Vail Resorts, and sports arenas and concert halls nationwide.
Anything else you’d like to share?
While there are a lot of wine brands out there, there really aren’t any wine brands that both tasted good and reflected my values. This is why I love Archer Roose and I feel good about sharing it with my friends.
